The Young Professionals Committee from the Society for Underwater Technology in the U.S. (SUT-US) cordially invites you to attend their inaugural event at Cezanne’s Jazz Club.

Join us for an evening of youthful networking with your colleagues from the offshore industry. The evening will feature a keynote speech by the Chairman of SUT-US, Dr. Zenon Medina-Cetina followed by live jazz music by Woody Witt. Appetizers will be served. Attendance is free.

Dr. Zenon Medina-Cetina SUT-US Chair
Dr. Zenon Medina-Cetina is Associate Professor at Texas A&M University (TAMU) in the Zachry Department of Civil Engineering and holds joint appointments in the Harold Vance Department of Petroleum Engineering, the Department of Ocean Engineering, and the Department of Geography. At TAMU he leads the Stochastic Geomechanics Laboratory (SGL) conducting research in probabilistic applications in engineering to improve current practices on risk assessment and management related to natural and anthropogenic threats, to map their associated social, economic and environmental impacts. He is the Associate Director of the Center for Geospatial Sciences, Applications and Technology (GEOSAT). 

Dr. Medina-Cetina graduated as Civil Engineer from the Universidad Autonoma de Yucatan (UADY) (1994) and obtained a Master of Engineering from the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM) (1996). In 2001 Dr. Medina-Cetina was awarded a Fulbright scholarship to pursue a Masters of Science and a PhD at The Johns Hopkins University in Stochastic Mechanics (2001- 2006). He held a dual appointment at the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI) in Oslo Norway (2006 - 2008) at the International Centre for Geohazards (ICG) and at the Computational Geomechanics Division (CGD).
