Luz Zarate is a Metocean Engineer at Shell with eight years of experience across offshore operations, ocean observing systems, technology development, and digital innovation. She manages Shell’s metocean program in the Gulf of Mexico, advising on weather-related operational downtime and enabling safe, reliable offshore operations.

Luz is known for delivering results, managing complex stakeholder environments, and adapting quickly to changing priorities. She is a Fellow of the Society for Underwater Technology (SUT) and is actively engaged in industry governance through SUT-US and the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), having founded and chaired professional task forces and committees. She has received multiple industry awards for technical excellence, leadership, and innovation.
