Melissa Gould
Stress Engineering

Melissa Gould is a Texas A&M University graduate, a Professional Engineer in Texas, and a Principal at Stress Engineering Services, Inc.  She has spent 32 years working in the Oil & Gas industry; primarily focused on offshore field development and subsea and pipeline detailed engineering.  Melissa is involved with the SUT-US Women in Industry (WIND) task force and participates on API code committees.  In her off-time, she enjoys golfing, sailing, hiking, travelling, and relaxing on the beach.

Sandra Jakl
Wood

Sandra graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1997 from Texas A&M University with a BS in Ocean Engineering. She started her career as an offshore and onshore pipeline designer. Within Wood, she has held roles as project manager, program manager for the subsea business unit for a tier 1 client, team manager for project management, Subsea Operational Manager and now Americas Region Project Director. In her time with Wood she has had engagement with separate teams to focus on mentorship, gender diversity, career development, and employee engagement.

Sandra has twin 9-year old children, Peter and Emma, who are learning that math and problem-solving are FUN. When she isn’t checking things off her to-do list, Sandra is supporting scouting (Girls Scouts and Cub Scouts) playing with her family, cooking, reading or planning the next home remodeling project.

 


Ruby Ramirez
Business Support Specialist at Lloyd’s Register.

Born and raised in Houston, Texas. 
I’ve been with Lloyd’s Register for 5 years, where I oversee and support our Central and South American clients. Overall, I have 9 years of experience in Marine & Offshore. I’m currently a full-time student at Southern New Hampshire University working on of goals to complete my bachelor’s degree in business with a concentration in International Business. 

 

 

Andrew R Haigh
Marine Geophysics / Marine Geohazards / Ocean Science
Ocean Geo Solutions, Inc


Born in Yorkshire, England, Andrew holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Applied Geology and Materials Science from the University of Sunderland (UK). After working offshore as a scientist for 8 years, in year 2000 Andrew & family relocated to Houston to establish Gardline Surveys Inc. a geohazard consultancy service, that in 2018 became Ocean Geo Solutions. Andrew’s primary profession is a marine geophysicist; however, Andrew has a wealth of offshore marine survey and ocean science experience. A fellow of the Society for Underwater Technology and global award winner, Andrew also chairs the SUT educational outreach effort for schools and colleges across the greater Houston area and beyond, bringing professional and academic ocean scientists into classrooms to share knowledge with students and our future professionals.
 
 

Damilola Abe
Subsea Engineer
Wood Group USA

Damilola graduated from the University of Houston with a master’s degree in Subsea engineering. He represented the University in the Marine Energy Collegiate competition organized by the Department of Energy by designing an offshore carbon capture system. He was one of the SUT 2021 scholars and the winner of the student design contest at the 2022 Subsea Tieback conference. He served as the President of the subsea engineering society, a SUT student chapter at the University of Houston. He is part of the API 17Z working committee to develop the first edition of API recommended practice for subsea power systems. He works as a subsea engineer supporting different subsea projects at Wood Group USA. Damilola also chairs the education committee of SUT overseeing all the student chapters in the US and is a member of the Launch leadership team at Wood, which caters to young professionals within the organization.
 
 

Catalina Maldonado
President at NGI

Catalina Maldonado, P.E., is a highly skilled Professional Engineer with over 15 years of experience in geotechnical and earthquake engineering, specializing in offshore environments. Currently serving as President at the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI) in the USA, she oversees business strategies, operations, and engineering teams, driving innovation and excellence in the field. Catalina holds a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering (Geotechnical Engineering) from the Autonomous National University of Mexico and a Bachelor in Civil Engineering from the National University (UNAL) in Colombia. Her career is marked by successful project management, client relationship-building, and technical acumen, making her a trusted leader in offshore geotechnical engineering.
