Dr. James G. Bellingham, PhD is a Bloomberg Distinguished Professor of Exploration Robotics and Executive Director of the Johns Hopkins Institute for Assured Autonomy. A globally recognized pioneer in autonomous marine robotics, he has spent more than 30 years advancing autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) used in defense, industry, and scientific research. He has led ocean exploration missions from the Arctic to the Antarctic and previously held leadership roles at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute, MIT Sea Grant, and co-founded Bluefin Robotics. Elected to the National Academy of Engineering, Bellingham is widely respected for his contributions to robotics, ocean science, AI, and trustworthy autonomous systems. | |
