A one-day seminar designed to educate people on the key elements of subsea tiebacks – subsea umbilicals, risers, flowlines (surf) to be conducted under the auspices of the Society for Underwater Technology (SUT).

Cost


Registration fee: $500 if paid before February 17, 2017. $600 If paid after February 17, 2017.

For registered professional engineers, this course counts for 6 professional development hours.

About the Presenters




Christopher Curran, CJC Enterprises
Christopher Curran is an independent consultant, having recently retired from BP where he was an Advisor within the Upstream Facilities Technology group.  He has worked in the areas of subsea condition monitoring and integrity management and has been active in developing subsea wireless communication technology.  His work covers many aspects of subsea systems and controls and he is a focal point within the industry for the development of High Integrity Pressure Protection Systems for application in the Gulf of Mexico and elsewhere.  He is Chairman of API 17F Subsea Controls, API 17O HIPPS and API 17V for Subsea Safety.   He has over 30 years’ experience within the industry.  Christopher has a degree in Physics from Bristol University and is founding Chairman of the Society for Underwater Technology’s Houston Branch.  He is a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of the Society for Underwater Technology and of the Institution of Engineering and Technology.


Don Schlater, Retired
Don Schlater has held both Technical and Sales management roles with the Castrol group of BP since late 1997. Prior to that he was the Director of Projects for FSSL (now Aker Solution). From 1986 to 1993 he started, developed and was General Manager for MacDermid Offshore Solutions business (formerly Marston Bentley). Prior to this he was product manager for Drilling Controls and Motion Compensation systems for Shaffer now National Oilwell Varco. He began his oilfield career with Exxon Production research after his USAF stay. He was an Air Force project manager at the Air Force Weapons lab working in the area of Nuclear weapons effect research.
He did both undergraduate and graduate work in Mechanical engineering at Tulane University.







Charles Horn, Nano RIdge Materials, Inc
More than forty years experience as designer, engineer, manager and project director in the areas of R&D, design, manufacturing, fabrication, and commissioning of subsea, deepwater, marginal field and floating production systems for the offshore oil and gas industry.  Currently Senior Advisor with NanoRIdge Materials, Inc.







Karl Schnakenburg, Subsea Engineering Advisor, BHP Billiton
Mr. Schnakenburg is Subsea Engineering Advisor at BHP Billiton (Petroleum), the largest Natural Resource Company in the World. Karl has a BSME and is a licensed Professional Engineer. He has worked in the Oil & Gas Industry for 30+ years. He has lived and worked overseas in Singapore, Australia and SE Asia. While not a native Houstonian, he has lived in Texas for 18 years with his wife, Sandy. Mr. Schnakenburg is very honored to be able to support SUT and the Subsea Tieback Forum.
