NOV Seabox Subsea Water Treatment
Injection of seawater into an oil reservoir is a recognized method of increased oil recovery. Traditional methods for treatment of seawater come at a price: heavy and expensive treatment plants topsides that are costly and operator intensive to run. Injection volumes are limited by several factors and require valuable topside real estate that may not be available for subsea tiebacks. A subsea water injection solution will have to overcome the same challenges: reduction of solids, sterilization and reinjection. Seabox has been awarded the “Spotlight on New Technology” at OTC and delvers high quality water where you need it and when you need it. The Seabox module enables an optimum water flooding regime and is based on the principles of electrolysis and gravitational separation, with zero hazardous discharge.

The Seabox module consists of three major components:
  1. Tray: Base Plate, will also store the sediments settled out in the still room
  2. Still Room: for residance time and sedimentation of larger particles
  3. Treatment Unit: store all the parts with a shorter design life, such as the two treatment processes: EC-cells and HRG cell and also the power and communication. It is at the treatment unit where the module is powered up and where the treated water leaves the module for either direct injection to well or as a pretreatment for other processing equipment – for example such as ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis membranes.
