The Women in Industry Subcommittee of the SUT-US is excited to announce its Seventh Edition of the Champagne and Conversation Series: "Transferable Skills: From Traditional Oil & Gas to Renewable Energy."

Join us for an engaging panel discussion with Shashikant Sarada, Director - Offshore Engineering at WSP USA; Danielle Jensen, Integration Manager at Mayflower Wind; Dr. Amanda Rico, Resume & Editorial Specialist at Rico Editorial Services; Cristina Zwissler, Team Lead Wind Resource and Optimization at Shell; and Steve Johnson, SUT-US Marine Renewable Energy Committee Chair.


About the Panelists:

Shashikant Sarada, Director- Offshore Engineering, WSP USA
Shashikant is the Director-Offshore Engineering at WSP USA. In this role, he is responsible to lead WSP’s multi-discipline engineering team in delivering value added consulting and professional engineering services in the area of offshore wind. Prior to joining WSP, Shashikant worked at DNV, a global engineering and risk management services organization, for 14+ years. He has 20 years of hands on experience in research, detailed engineering, fabrication, commissioning, offshore hook-up and integration of offshore facilities located in the US, East Canada, Brazil, Norway and Indonesia. Shashikant is uniquely qualified to lead a multi-discipline engineering team. He is a qualified Professional Engineer (PE) in 5 engineering majors: Civil, Mechanical, Naval Architecture, Marine and Fire Protection Engineering. He graduated with Masters degree in Offshore Engineering from IIT Bombay in 2001 and attended PhD program in Civil/Structural Engineering at Texas A&M University from 2003 to 2005. For last 10+ years, Shashikant has been working in both O&G and wind energy projects. He was DNV's Proposal and Project manager for 1st proposed offshore wind project in the US, Cape Wind Project. In addition to being a hands on engineer, Shashikant has a passion for teaching. He teaches various Civil and Mechanical engineering courses to engineers preparing for FE and PE exam.  He is also a certified yoga teacher.

Danielle Jensen, Integration Manager, Mayflower Wind
Danielle works as the Integration Manager for Mayflower Wind Energy; a joint venture between Shell and Ocean Winds aiming to bring industrial scale offshore wind to the US. In this role, Danielle and her team manage interfaces across the technical, permitting, and commercial teams to make value-based decisions. Danielle joined Shell in 2012 as a Process Engineer in Deepwater after graduating from Ohio State University in Chemical Engineering. She first worked in New Orleans and offshore oil and gas supporting the Mars and Ursa platforms in both operations and project management. Outside of work Danielle loves to run and read and explore Boston (as COVID allows) with her husband David and small pup Penny.

Cristina Zwissler - Team Lead Wind Resource and Optimization – Shell
In Cristina’s 8 years working for Shell she has developed her expertise and fondness of wind energy assessment and metocean. Cristina has contributed to numerous offshore wind development efforts, helped Shell OFW qualify to bid in the US offshore wind market, deployed an offshore wind measurement campaign for the Mayflower Wind Farm, and aided in securing a PPA for the Mayflower WF. Prior to joining the Offshore wind team in 2016, Cristina held roles in metocean performing hurricane forecasting for the GOM and platform climate design criteria, and began her career at Shell in 2013 as a Wind Resource & Performance Analyst for the onshore US assets. Cristina grew up in Alabama where her fascination with tornados and hurricanes began. This fascination eventually turned into a BS and MS in Atmospheric Sciences from the Florida State University.  Cristina enjoys days on the job where she uses her passion for Meteorology to design future wind farms. She looks forward to spreading her enthusiasm for wind energy. Cristina lives in Houston, Texas with her husband and two dogs. In her spare time, Cristina enjoys keeping an eye on the weather, reading, hiking, DIY projects, activism, and a good sci-fi movie.

About the Moderator:

Steve Johnson, SUT Marine Renewable Energy Committee Chair

Steve Johnson retired from Chevron last year and is now the Chair of the Society for Underwater Technology, US branch (SUT-US) Marine Renewable Energy Committee (MREC). In that role he is currently encouraging networking and learning opportunities in marine renewable energy and investigating floating wind opportunities offshore Oregon & Northern California. He has over 40 years’ experience of offshore engineering projects, from concept to commissioning. In the first half of his career, he worked for contractors in London on offshore design and build projects, principally in the North Sea. At Chevron in Houston, he concentrated on the early design phase and engineering management of offshore projects worldwide, including UKCS, West Africa, West Australia, Caribbean, Far East, South America, Barents Sea, and the Gulf of Mexico. He has an Honors Degree in Mechanical Engineering (with Naval Architecture), is a Fellow of the SUT, Chartered Engineer, Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers and Member of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects. Steve’s hobbies include non-fiction reading, bicycling and scuba diving.
