This LiDAR presentation is an introduction into subsea LiDAR with an emphasis on subsea jumper and spoolpiece metrology. We will provide a brief overview of the LiDAR equipment and technology used in today’s market and compare this to traditional subsea survey equipment and methodology. We will discuss the different subsea LiDAR applications and how TechnipFMC is focusing on subsea LiDAR to better serve their clients’ needs. Not only with current operations, but also with regards to inspection and maintenance. These applications include but are not limited to; metrologies, subsea inspections, vibration monitoring, environmental monitoring, IRM, pre-lay and as-built surveys, and high resolution 3D models. The presentation will finalize with an introduction of TechnipFMC's plans moving forward with remote survey monitoring and LiDAR operations.

About the Presenter
Michael Meehan SUT-US SpeakerAfter graduating from the Memorial University of Newfoundland with a B.Sc. in Mathematics and Geography, Michael Meehan attended the Marine Geomatics program at the Centre of Geographic Sciences in Canada. In 2007, he was hired directly out of college by Subsea7 and was offshore within a month of graduation. As part of the Subsea7 survey team, they were provided training in all aspects of the survey world, including specialized subsea positioning as well as global positioning courses. Then he spent the next three years installing pipelines throughout the world. Following Subsea7, Michael took a job in Houston for Quality Positioning Systems, a small but global survey company. Again, he spent the next three years traveling the world, installing survey systems onboard survey vessels. It was here that he was introduced to LiDAR where they formed a partnership with Measurement Device Limited MDL and was involved in the introduction of the DynaScan, one of the world’s first mobile scanning units. He then moved into a project management role with UTEC Survey as Project Manager to Fairfield and Technip projects. Then eventually being hired directly by Technip, where he now resides as the Lead Surveyor for TechnipFMC North America.
