Daniel Lanier, President, Geoscience Earth and Marine Services
A graduate of Texas A&M University, Daniel Lanier has worked as a Geologist and as Sr. Management in the O&G industry since 2000. As a geologist, Mr. Lanier specialized in correlating geotechnical, geological, and geophysical data for the purpose of analyzing marine geohazards with respect to drill center and SURF placement throughout his tenure. He was promoted to Managing Director of Geoscience Earth and Marine Services (GEMS) 10 years ago. Under the former parent company, Forum Energy Technologies, Inc. (FET), Mr. Lanier was promoted many times and prior to his departure from Forum, he was serving as the Vice President – Global Subsea Sales responsible for revenue for all the Forum Subsea product lines. Mr. Lanier purchased GEMS from Forum in November, 2017 and currently serves as Owner, President, and Sr. Principal.
Amber Sturrock, Strategy and Planning Analyst for the Gulf of Mexico Business Unit, Chevron
Amber Sturrock, Chevron, is currently a Strategy and Planning Analyst for the Gulf of Mexico Business Unit supporting capital allocation, corporate reporting, and engagements across the enterprise. She has focused on subsea operations and subsea brownfield expansion projects for almost over a decade. These projects have been focused in the Gulf of Mexico (Jack & St. Malo, Blind Faith, and Tahiti developments) and offshore Equatorial Guinea (Zafiro development). Her early career provided a foundation in completions and workovers supporting both Southern Louisiana and West Colorado (Piceance basin). Amber is a 2014 recipient of the Society of Petroleum Engineers International Young Member Outstanding Service Award and holds a BS in Petroleum Engineering from Louisiana State University.
Shawn Williamson, Well Project Team Leader, BHP Petroleum
Shawn Williamson is a Well Project Team Leader at BHP Petroleum in Houston, Texas. He previously worked in Permitting Manager and Geohazards Interpreter roles with BHP. Prior to joining BHP in 2003, Shawn was a Geosciences Team Manager with Fugro GeoServices. He has over 23 years of petroleum industry experience and has performed shallow hazards assessments for offshore wells and field developments in the Gulf of Mexico, Trinidad, Venezuela, Brazil, Nigeria, Gabon, Angola, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Myanmar, and South China Sea. While at BHP, he has participated in well planning teams for over 60 deepwater wells plus more than 20 prospects yet to be drilled. He was responsible for planning, acquisition, and integration of the geophysical and geotechnical site investigation program for the Shenzi Field. Shawn is a Fellow of the Society of Underwater Technology (SUT). He previously served as Chair of the SUT-US Offshore Site Investigation and Geotechnics Committee (OSIG). Shawn holds a B.S. degree in Geology from Millsaps College and a M.S. degree in Geology from Texas A&M University. He is a licensed Professional Geologist in the State of Texas.
Chuck Miller, Vice President, Stress Engineering Services
Charles Miller is a Vice President at Stress Engineering Services, Inc. (SES) and leads their upstream oil and gas engineering group. He has 39 years of engineering experience in the offshore oil and gas business. His engineering experience includes design/analysis of subsea components, riser systems, and floating production systems deployed in shallow to ultra-deep water depths. His recent experience also includes involvement with integrity management programs and life extension work for deepwater floating facilities.
Nader Matari, Project Manager, FlexSteel Pipeline Technologies, Inc.
Nader Matari is currently a Project Manager at Flexsteel Pipeline Technologies. He holds a PMP certification and has been in this role for less than a year. Previously, Nader was a flexible pipe’s SME with focus on design, manufacturing, and integrity management. He has held many roles in his career including research and development engineer. Nader has 2 publications on different techniques that can be used for flexible riser’s life extension and corrosion mitigation. He also has 3 patents pending for flexible pipe packaging equipment and end terminations.On a personal note, Nader is an aspiring real estate mogul and currently owns a few investment properties in Houston, TX.
Georgiy Madedonov, Former President, SUT-US Student Chapter at University of Houston
Georgiy Makedonov is a recent graduate of University of Houston with a dual MS degree in Mechanical and Subsea Engineering. His past involvement on campus included being a President of Society of Underwater Technology - Subsea Engineering Society (SUT-SES) and President of Russian United Student Society (RUSS). Georgiy is the winner of 2019 UH SPE Paper Contest and was awarded the second place at the 2019 Regional SPE Paper Contest with the topic of "Novel design of mitigating pipeline erosion". He has accepted a full-time offer from TechnipFMC as a Rigid Pipeline Engineer and currently working towards his goal of becoming a licensed Professional Engineer.
Thomas Kolanski, VP Business Development, BW Offshore
Thomas Kolanski is head of Business Development. Prior to BW Energy, Mr. Kolanski was VP of Business Development and General Manager of BW Offshore USA. He led the team that identified and secured the initial field development opportunities for BW Energy and was instrumental in the development of BW Energy strategy. Mr. Kolanski has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering for the University of Texas and a Juris Doctorate from South Texas College of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 2009. He has 15 years of industry experience and has worked for companies such as Technip, Wellstream, and SBM. Mr. Kolanski is a US citizen.
