A presentation of the benefits and limitations of robotic seabed drilling technology for offshore geotechnical site investigations, with a focus on Benthic’s Portable Remotely Operated Drill (PROD). Seabed drilling technology has been utilized for 2 decades, however, only in recent years has it gained acceptance as a viable alternative to more traditional vessel mounted drilling systems. Mark Simkin, Benthic’s Geotechnical Engineering Manager, will discuss the capabilities and limitations of PROD technology, with a focus on safety, data quality, productivity, automation and tooling.
This event is hosted by the SUT-US Young Professionals Group (YP) and sponsored by Benthic. Students and professionals in general, are strongly encouraged to participate in this presentation.
