SUT-US joins NOAA’s ProTech Services Program: A 3-Billion opportunity to address Environmental, Social and Economic Risks on U.S. Oceans and Coasts

SUT-US NOAA ProTech Services Program

Dr. Zenon Medina-Cetina, President and Chair of SUT-US announced that SUT-US joined the National Oceanic and Atmosphere Administration (NOAA) Professional and Technical (ProTech) Services Program, as a member of a consortium led by the BMT Group., which grants SUT-US the opportunity to contract ProTech projects within its Oceans Domain Program.

The Oceans Domain Program will enable the National Ocean Service (NOS) to acquire services for scientific data collection and stewardship, geospatial mapping of coastal areas, and community outreach services to position America’s coastal communities for the future. NOOA’s ProTech suite of contracting projects consist of Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) multiple award contracts, multiple award and single award Blanket Purchase Agreements (BPAs), and other contract types organized into five sectors or domains that are: Fisheries, Satellite, Oceans, Weather, and Enterprise Operations.

In a recent visit to NOOA, Rick Cox, Vice President of BMT group and head of the consortium mentioned that he conducted a one-on-one meeting with the ProTech’s Oceans Contracting managers. Mr. Cox stated that “this visit allowed me to showcase the team and present our consortium strong qualifications. They pledged to follow up and reiterated that intention of using this contract and their challenge in getting all NOS. In the coming months, they (NOAA) will host Engagement Events nationwide at NOS offices.”

Regarding BMT’s winning consortium Mr. Cox expressed its delight for heading-up a strong team including SUT-US, which “includes some of the nation’s leading scientists and technical experts in underwater technology, marine and aquatic research.”

Following the first engagement of BMT’s consortium with NOAA Dr. Medina-Cetina expressed its excitement about this new SUT-US venture “this opportunity launches further SUT-US’ leadership of learning programs in underwater technology and opens opportunities for individual and institutional members to be at the forefront of the latest research and service in Environmental, Social and Economic Risks on U.S. Oceans and Coasts”.
